The University Student Union of the University of Pécs (PTE EHÖK) is inviting applications for international mentors for the academic year 2024/2025.

Dear Students,

The PTE EHÖK International Mentorship Program invites applications for the position of integration and peer support for first-year students arriving at the University for the academic year 2024/2025.

Deadline for application: 19 April 2024, 17:00 (Friday)

Task of a mentor

· The mentor is an upper year student at the same institution who assists the integration of the assigned international student in higher education

· The mentor will contact the foreign student before his/her arrival in Hungary and, if necessary, help him/her to find accommodation and to find a dormitory.

· After the student’s arrival, he/she will keep in touch with the student, informing him/her about current institutional applications, scholarships, the institutional study system and helping him/her to integrate into student life.

· If the student requests it, the mentor will assist with administrative matters.

· The mentors are recruited for one academic year, during which time they must be active students.

· The mentor undertakes to maintain constant contact with the mentor programme coordinator during the period of his/her assignment, to fulfil the administrative tasks related to his/her work in full and to prepare a written report on his/her work.

· The mentor undertakes to participate actively, to the best of his/her ability, in the mentoring training organised by the EHÖK.

Application criteria

· Any full-time student who is not starting his/her first year of study in higher education in the academic year 2024/2025 in a bachelor’s degree programme may apply for a mentor.

· The working language of the PTE International Mentorship Program is English, so an intermediate level of English is required.

· Applicants agree to complete the mentoring training provided by the mentor network to support and prepare them for their mentoring role.

· Send a Student Status Certificate, a CV, and a letter of motivation in English to this LINK by the deadline indicated in the call for applications.

Procedure for the assessment of applications

· By 28 April 2024, all applicants will receive confirmation of how their application has been assessed by the mentor programme management, followed by an interview if appropriate.

· Interviews are scheduled from 29 April to 3 May

· Final evaluation of applications will take place on 10 May 2024

· A mentor training session will be organised for successful applicants in August 2024. After successful completion of the training, the mentor recruitment process will be closed.
